Chairman and CEO
Rick Godber is Trojan Battery Company’s chairman and chief executive officer. The third family member to lead Trojan Battery, Godber is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the organization. Godber joined Trojan in 1972 as warehouse manager where he began to develop his knowledge of the family business. Promoted to vice president of manufacturing in 1977, Godber acquired his expertise of battery manufacturing and expanded his knowledge of the industry. Godber was promoted to president in 1981 and now serves as chairman and CEO.
Key growth initiatives under Godber’s guidance include the expansion of manufacturing facilities from Trojan’s Ann Street, CA, plant to Trojan’s current headquarters at Clark Street in Santa Fe Springs, CA; the acquisition of Trojan’s Lithonia, GA, plant in 1988; the opening of Trojan’s fourth location in Sandersville, GA, in 2004; and the expansion strategy to create the master distributorship structure in North America. Trojan Battery Company is the world’s leading manufacturer of deep cycle batteries.
Committed to the advancement of lead acid battery technology, Godber is an active board member of Battery Council International (BCI) and has participated as chairman on various BCI committees. He has also served as president of BCI from 1995 through 1997. Godber is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization, past chairman of the Orange County Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization, past board member and president of Big Canyon Country Club and current board member of the Newport Sports Museum. Godber received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Southern California.
